Grove City, OH

Illustrated Master Plan

MidOhio Design worked with Lumberyard Redevelopment to design a new master plan proposal for the redevelop of an existing lumber yard site adjacent to downtown Grove City. An internal boulevard organizes the site and creates pedestrian links between the new internal spaces and the surrounding city fabric.

The development consists of 96 residential units as well as some ground floor retail.  The latter is clustered around a new Town Square adjacent to the existing City Hall.  The housing is organized in a variety of configurations, including mews housing, townhouses, and apartments in buildings of 3 and 4 stories.  Many of the top level units have 1 1/2 story living rooms and balconies, while many of the lower units are two story with private gardens.

A new diagonal street extends a vista across the site from the Grove City’s Broadway commercial district to another new plaza on the interior of the site.  The site is organized into a series of special landscape areas, gardens, and terraces connected by pathways, gates, and archways, to provide an interesting pedestrian environment on site and to encourage pedestrian activities. This system connects to a clubhouse and swimming pool.  Parking for the units is located 1/2 level below grade under the housing blocks.  Public parking is located under the Town Square with access off Grove City Road.
