Who We Are
Shane Chandler, Principal
Shane Chandler has been a practicing architect since 1998. He is a project manager and designer experienced in planning, design, and management of a wide range of building types, including residential, corporate commercial institutional, and religious facilities. He has worked with Peter Bohlin and Jim Cutler in a joint venture practice in Seattle, Washington, which dealt with special projects. He has experience in brownfield development and in designing master plans for new and existing urban centers. He won an international competition for the new town center for Channahon, Illinois, while working with Douglas Graf, Frank Elmer, and Ruth Gless. With M.O.D. Architects, he recently tied for first prize for the master plan for a new urban neighborhood on the Whittier peninsula in Columbus, Ohio.
Shane received both his Bachelor of Architecture (1987) and his Master of Architecture (1999) from the Ohio State University, where he won numerous awards including the American Institute of Architecture “Henry Adams” Gold Medal and the Outstanding Graduate Paper. He has taught at the Knowlton School of Architecture as a Lecturer in graduate studio and as a graduate teaching associate.
Douglas Graf, Principal
Douglas Graf has been a practicing architect since 1975. He has worked on various scale architectural projects including houses, schools, hotels, and has maintained a practice as a design consultant to other architects, landscape architects, planners, and urban designers. As a consultant he has produced a number of plans for housing and town center developments for communities in and around the Hudson Valley, metropolitan Boston, Illinois, and the San Francisco Bay area, with a current project in Wilmington, N.C.
Doug received his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University (1968) and his Master of Architecture from Harvard University (1971). Doug’s academic career has been highlighted by teaching at the AA in London, the Bauhaus in Germany, Tampere University of Technology in Finland, the University of Kentucky, Tulane, the University of Washington, Yale, and currently at The Ohio State University, where he teaches design theory and integrates architecture, landscape, and urban design. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 1991.
